| Hello everyone! Or as we say in the south, "Hey there, Y'all!"
My name is Tracey Cox, and I am 37 yrs old. I was born in Rochester, New York. I moved to south Georgia when I was 11 years old, and have been here ever since. I have been writing professionally since 2000. That's a l-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-ng time, huh?!? |
As a little girl, I loved the written word. There was hardly a time when you wouldn't find a book in my hand. I also liked making up stories. My mom could tell you some very amusing ones. One of my favorite childhood memories is crawling into bed with my grandpa and having him tell me stories. Some of the stories were his own! Of course, all this was done behind my mom's back. She thought that I was in bed sound asleep, only to find me curled up beside my papa. Can you tell I was a little stinker? ;^) |

| While I was in high school, I started writing poetry, plus other tidbits of stories. I would keep the class (along with the teachers) in stitches with some of the things I would come up with. I never took any of those any further than for a grade though. Would you believe that? Never even thought of it. |

| As you can tell, I'm grown up now. At least on the outside. ;^) I married my high school sweetheart, Tim. We have 3 boys- Nelson, Austin, and Cameron. When they were little, I started making up bed time stories to tell my boys before they would go to sleep. I still hadn't considered taking my stories further... until one night. I had just finished telling one of my stories, when my oldest said, "Mom, that sure would be a cool book!" |
With that one statement something inside of me clicked and my journey began. I took the pen again. This time to write children's stories. I have gone from listening to stories and being awed by them when I was a little girl to... writing for a grade in school to... being a story teller for my children to... a writer with LOTS of rejections to... becoming a published author! My first acceptance came on August 29th 2002 from WeeOnes. They were an online children's magazine. My story, MY BEST FRIEND AND ME, appeared in their July 2003 issue. |
I continue to write, revise, read, revise, write, revise, read, revise. I think there is a pattern here. I have over 70 manuscripts going. Some are more done than others. Some have been sitting in the drawer for quite some time. A few are polished enough that they are making their rounds with publishers. As of 2009, my first picture book was published with Guardian Angel Publishing. Since then, I have other picture books being published by Guardian Angel Publishing.

I am also a Chilren's Book Reviewer. I focus on picture books, and occasionally I do other children's genres. I have my own online children's book reviews blog. If you have a book that you think I might be interested in e mail me and we'll swap info.
I always look forward to meeting new friends on the internet. A big 'Hey there, Y'all!' to all my writing cyberfriends. And here's to exploring all the great literature!
Bye for now!
Best wishes,
~~~Tracey M. Cox
